Rachel Corner studeerde in 1997 af aan afdeling fotografie van de Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam. Ze werkte voor dagblad het Parool als stagiair en ze assisteerde Susan Meiselas, fotografe van Magnum Photos, in New York. Na haar afstuderen werkt Rachel als documentair fotograaf, ze is lid van NVF, ze wordt vertegenwoordigd door de Beeldunie. Ze is ook aan De Groene Amsterdammer verbonden als fotoredacteur.

About Rachel Corner

In 1997 Rachel Corner graduated from the photography department of the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. She worked as an intern for “ Het Parool” a Dutch daily newspaper and for Susan Meiselas from the Magnum photo agency in New York. After her graduation she started to work as a documentary photographer. Her work includes documentaries on the situation of the Roma community in Slovakia, disappeared people in Algeria and the struggle of their mothers for the truth. The struggle of a Senegalese fishing community now that there is a decline of fish in the sea’s,, the last farmers in Amsterdam and of refugees and migrants trying to reach Europe for a better life. She also produced multimedia work, audio and visuals together. Her story Bright Brass situated in Congo DRC on a Brass Band of former street children was published in the NRC a Dutch based newspaper and the Guardian.

She also works as a part-time photo editor at “De Groene Amsterdammer” a Dutch weekly opinion magazine.
