In 2001 the Central American country of El Salvador was devastated by a 7.7 magnitude earthquake which destroyed 100,000 houses as well as more than 1,000 people lost their lives and about 6,000 injured. This has been one of the worst earthquakes to hit the coutry since the 80's. In 2021 it will the the 20th anniversary of this tragic natural disaster which caused the coutnry to take years to recover and tens of thousands fled to the United States to seek better opportunies and whom were beneficiaries of the Temporary Protected Status - TPS by the United States government.
