The migrant caravan that left Honduras, and which people from Guatamala and El Salvador have joined, has arrived in central Mexico. People flee from the violence and the gangs in their own country, with the aim of reaching the USA and building a better life there. Since it is not safe to travel alone during the trip, people have joined a caravan through social media to travel together. In this way they hope to stay out of the hands of gangs, and avoid robbery, rape and extortion. Especially many families with small children travel this way. Along the way, they are helped by truck drivers who take them with them in their trailers. Hitchhiking, walking, hanging from cars, the caravan moves forward. Aid organisations set up reception camps along the cities the caravan passes, to provide safe accommodation, food and medical assistance.
