The story behind the series: Who are the women who choose to wear a niqab, despite all the controversy? What do they find funny, beautiful? What is femininity to them? Driven by this curiosity Saskia Aukema spent three years in the search for niqabi women, she photographed them the way she got to know them, as women. This series features portraits of different niqab wearing women. Ms Aukema asked them to show the clothes they wear when they are at home or at parties without men attending.
