San Judas Tadeo / Saint Jude Thaddaeus is officially the patron saint of hopeless cases and lost causes. He is revered by the poor underclass, by people engaged in illicit activities, petty criminals as well as by policemen. San Judas was on of the 12 Apostles, not to be confused with Judas Iscariot who betrayed Jesus. ?The largest and most important shrine is at the Iglesia de San Hipólito in the center of Mexico City. Ten thousands of people flock to the church in the center of Mexico. October 28th is the official day, but people arrive already a day in advance. Some have to wait hours to attend mass, which are held around the clock.
