De extreemrechtse politieke partij AFD met een standje in het centrum van Spremberg. In dit voormalig DDR gebied zijn de bruinkool dagbouwmijnen en de krachtcentrales een belangrijke werkvoorziening. In het kader van het klimaatakkoord gaan deze mijnen sluiten, waarschijnlijk in 2038. Er komt financiering voor een omstrukturering, maar de plannen zijn nog niet uitgewerkt. 1 September zijn er deelstaatverkiezingen in Brandenburg en Sachsen. De rechtsextreme partij AFD maakt kans om de grootste of anders een na grootste partij te worden. Zij spreken zich uit tegen sluiting van de bruinkoolmijnen.
The farright political party AFD. This is the lignite mine area of Eastern part of Germany near the Polish border. According to the Climate agreement these mines have to close at least in 2038. There is still an economic (and alsi social and attitude towards foreigners) gap between former communist eastern states and their neighbors to the west; so the impact of closing the mines is causing unrest. The farright party AFD that opposes the closure of the mines has a chance of becoming the largest party in the state elections of the first of September.
