Standbeeld van Jan Pieterszoon Coen (1587-1629) Guoverneur-Generaal van de Vereenigde Oostindische Compagnie (VOC). Al aan het einde van de 19 eeuw onstond kritiek dat hij een nietsontziende man van geweld zou zijn, die voor niets terugdeinsde. Het standbeeld staat sinds 1893 in Hoorn en was al voor plaatsing omstreden. In 2012 is de tekst op het standbeeld uitgebreid waarop nu ook vermeld staat dat hij wordt bekritiseerd om zijn geweldadig optreden. En "volgens critici verdient Coens geweldadige handelspolitiek in de Indische archipel geen eerbetoon. Actiegroep De Grauwe Eeuw heeft in 2016 het standbeeld beklad met de tekst "genocide.
